MVCFS AMAZON CHILDREN’S WISH LIST

MVCFS has been serving California children and families for more than 50 years. You can help our efforts year-round to nurture and support the children we serve.

Many of the children shared their wish lists with us for items they would like to receive as a special gift. The children listed a variety of things that have meaning for them that would help them to celebrate birthdays, graduations, holidays, homecomings, or other important events in their lives.

You can see many of these items on our Amazon Mountain Valley Kids Gift Registry and select any gift(s) (tax-deductible) that you would like to send to one of our children. Items will be given directly to the children of Mountain Valley Child & Family Services, Nevada City, CA. Your gift will make an enduring impression and difference in the life of one of our boys or girls. It will also help provide them with the inspiration and motivation to make better life choices because they will know and understand that thoughtful people like you care about them.

Dear Family and Friends:

We have been thinking of you all especially during this critical time. We want you to know that the welfare and health of our residents and staff are now, as always, paramount in all of our efforts and decisions.

We want to share with you that our staff and residents are fully engaged and remaining active in safe, structured, educational and recreational activities. We are fortunate here at the ranch to enjoy the many benefits of being so close to nature in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Children and staff have been outside walking, hiking, biking, and playing in the snow. In Sacramento, the children can play in the front and backyards. They also have been enjoying movie nights, karaoke, and sports. At the Concord office, we will continue to serve and support the families and children in our care through increased telephone contact and telehealth services. We are providing online learning and clinical supports for residents. We are conscientiously following guidelines, monitoring updates, and taking precautions to protect everyone’s health and safety. We are practicing social distancing, using protective equipment, providing sanitation areas with hand sanitizers, disinfectant spray, gloves, etc. and disinfecting all areas of our facilities.

Wherever possible and appropriate, staff is working remotely to manage and follow administrative and referral protocols. We will continue to review incoming applications and host virtual interviews and meetings. All campus visits are currently canceled but will be immediately resumed when it is safe.

In the meantime, we want our families, parents, and colleagues to maintain contact with us. In such uncertain times, we take comfort in the support and dedication of our staff and community. We are here to support and serve you. Stay close and stay connected. We have resources and tips on our social media channels and we encourage you to call us with any questions or concerns you may have.

With gratitude,

Daniel Petrie

Mountain Valley Child & Family Services 50th Anniversary

Celebrating 50 years helping young boys grow up and serving children and families since 1968

We celebrated the 50th year of MVCFS with our families, children and staff.

It was a wonderful day: Games, rock climing, barbque, gifts and an inspiring talk from Dick Milhous.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this an incredible and memorable day of celebration.

Looking forward to the next 50 years!
